We at SingDC can't wait for "God, I Hope I Get In!" to start this upcoming Friday evening---are you ready?

This 3-day college audition workshop will be held Aug 23-25, Friday through Sunday, at Convergence Church in Alexandria, VA.

Dr. Tracey Brent-Chessum of Point Park University--a top-10 MT program college
--is spending a full weekend with us sharing how to best plan and prepare to audition for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Musical Theatre and/or Acting). Tracey is an incredible resource for high-school kids and their families, and her professional expertise and many years of industry experience are a game-changer for those who want to pursue this path!

We have created a special Friday-night introduction for Tracey for August 23, since we want as many students and families as possible to hear her presentation on how to gain admission into the BFA. If you go to the SingDC website, you will see a special $15 ticket (for individuals or families) for Friday night's event: it starts at 6:30 pm with finger food and heads into her presentation at 7 pm sharp.

These tickets are available online or at the door: please invite one and all, and please do forward this email on to anyone who's interested!

For those of you who'd like to watch Tracey coach 12 high-school MT hopefuls on Saturday, August 24, plus observe a typical music-theatre college audition happen for all 12 masterclass students on Sunday, August 25, take a look online at our other ticket options for the weekend: high-school auditors (audience members) are encouraged to attend, as are their parents, voice teachers, choir & theatre directors, school guidance counselors, and anyone else who wants to be informed on this rapidly-changing field.

Here are just a few of the many topics Dr. Brent-Chessum will cover during the workshop:

--how to make the most of your pre-screens;

--narrowing down your list of schools;

--audition do's and don'ts (our clinician sees over 1200 auditions every year);
--proven tips & techniques from a prof at a top-10 music theatre program;

--focusing on your body as an instrument to beat the audition & performance nerves;

--taking your storytelling to the next level through dance, acting, & singing;

--working with your collaborative pianist (live pianists will work with all masterclass participants throughout the weekend);

--managing live versus pre-recorded audition accompaniments;

--creating a memorable story arc using your 2 cuts and a monologue;

--using improv as a tool in practice, rehearsal, & performance;

--plus much, much more!

We hope to see you there!
